What it is
Oil stain removal is a targeted treatment for the dark spots a standard driveway wash cannot fully lift. Motor oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and grease soak into concrete because it is porous. Fresh oil sits near the surface. Old oil has had months or years to wick down into the slab. Each one needs a different approach.
We start with hot water and a heavy degreaser, which handles most fresh and medium stains. For deep stains we use enzyme or poultice treatments that pull oil up out of the concrete over a few hours or a couple of days. We are straight with you about results: most stains fade dramatically, and some very old ones leave a lighter shadow.
Equipment and method
Each stain gets a hot water degreasing pass with a concentrated cleaner, scrubbed in with a stiff brush and given time to emulsify the oil. We rinse with water at up to 200 degrees, which lifts far more than cold water can. If a shadow is left, we apply a poultice, a paste that dries on the stain and draws oil up into itself, then remove it on a return visit.
On larger areas, like a shop floor or a parking pad that has seen a lot of leaks, we combine degreasing with a full surface clean so the treated spots blend in with the rest of the slab.
What is included
- Hot water degreasing of each stain
- Brush agitation and dwell time for deep oil
- Poultice or enzyme treatment for stubborn stains
- A return visit to remove poultice where used
- A blend clean of the surrounding concrete
- Honest before and after expectations at the walkthrough
Signs you need it
- A dark spot where a car has been parked for years
- A rainbow sheen on the driveway after rain

- HOA notices about driveway appearance
The Colorado angle
Cold Denver mornings make old seals and gaskets leak more, and plenty of households have one car that drips a little more every winter. Road grime and mag chloride mix with that oil and make it darker and stickier. The good news is that our dry climate helps poultice treatments work faster, because they dry and pull oil sooner. Getting oil out before you seal a driveway matters, because sealer locks in whatever is under it.
Quick answers
Can every oil stain be removed?
Not always completely. Fresh stains usually come out. Old stains that have soaked deep typically fade a lot but may leave a light shadow. We tell you what to expect before we start.
How long does it take?
Most degreasing is done in the same visit. Poultice treatments sit for 24 to 48 hours, then we come back to remove them.
Will it damage my concrete?
No. We use degreasers and poultices made for concrete, and hot water instead of extra pressure.
